25 Best views in Australia

After spending over a year in Australia and completing our road trip all around this crazy beautiful country, time has come to list the 25 best views! It wasn’t easy as there’s some stiff competition between all these amazing places, but these are our favourites :) Let us know what you think!

1. Uluru // NT

Australia’s national icon is located right smack in the middle of this vast country. Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a giant sandstone monolith and sacred to the indigenous Australians. This massive monument is 348m high and the highlight of any visit to the Australian Outback! Click here to find out more about this magical place!

2. The Neck, Bruny Island // TAS

The Neck is an isthmus of land connecting north and south Bruny Island in southern Tasmania. After climbing the 279 steps to the top you’re rewarded with stunning 360 degree views! The area is also an important breeding ground for mutton birds and little (fairy) pinguins. 3. Cradle Mountain National Park // TAS

Tasmania’s iconic Cradle Mountain is a not-to-miss National Park for anyone visiting Australia’s southernmost state. The hike around the stunning Dove Lake takes about 2 hours but is sooooo worth it! For more info, head over to this blogpost!

4. Great Ocean Road // VIC

The name says it all. This scenic drive along the Victorian coastline is about 243 km (150 miles) long and along the way there are lots of awesome (surfing) spots: Bells Beach, Kenneth River, Carisbrook Creek, the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge and many many more! 5. Mount Tomaree // NSW

Tomaree National Park is a superb location to spot some of the amazing wildlife that lives around Port Stephens. After taking on the grade 5 summit walk (1,2 – 2 hours) you’ll be rewarded with epic 360° panoramas across the bay area! If you’re lucky you can spot koalas, flying foxes, dolphins, sea eagles and even whales! Head over to this blogpost for more information.

6. Mount Wellington Summit // TAS

Boasting spectacular panoramas over Hobart city, this jaw-dropping viewpoint (located 1271 m above sea level) is only a short (but very steep) drive away from Tasmania’s capital. During winter this peak is often covered in snow, talk about a winter wonderland :) !Tasmania Mount Wellington

7. Kings Canyon National Park // NT

Just a 3 hour drive away from Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kings Canyon is one of Australia’s most impressive canyons! People come over from all over the world to hike along the famous but strenuous Rim Walk. For more information about this amazing hike, click here! Australia Kings Canyon Rim Walk

8. Monkey Mia // WA

Located in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, Monkey Mia is the home and feeding ground of Bottlenose dolphins. These friendly creatures have been hanging around the shallow coastline for over 50 years, where fishermen and rangers lure them with a fishy treat from time to time.

9. Head of Bight // SA

One of the most spectacular whale watching sites in Australia is located at the Northern end of the Great Australian Bight. The high cliffs provide an excellent vantage point to spot Southern Right Whales who take up residence here every year between June and October.

10. The Pinnacles, Nambung National Park // WA

Cruising around the peculiar Pinnacles in Nambung National Park almost feels like you’re on another planet! The loop is about 4 km, but as there are quite a few photo opportunities it took us more than 2 hours… and then we did it again just for the fun of it :-)

11. Blue Mountains National Park // NSW

Located just 2 hours from Sydney, this National Park is perfect for a day trip! The Blue Mountains contains 247,000 hectares of World Heritage listed wilderness, ánd it’s 10 times older than the Grand Canyon – CRAZY! Blue-hazed valleys, sandstone rock formations, rainforests and waterfalls will immediately make you fall in love with this natural wonder. More information in this blogpost!

12. Coffin Bay National Park // SA

This national park is part of the Eyre Peninsula, and includes majestic coastal scenery, dunes, swamps, islands and wildlife (wild horses!). There are both excellent 2WD and 4WD tracks to explore this wild area!

13. Cable Beach, Broome // WA

A very welcome stopover after cruising through the hot and dry WA desert! Broome is a friendly holiday town  and home to famous Cable Beach. This picture-perfect stretch of shoreline is especially popular during sunset when dozens of camels carry tourists around.

14. Palm Beach // NSW

Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches this gorgeous stretch of land offers great beach walks and excellent surf! The view from the Barrenjoey Headland is stunning, overlooking the ocean and bays surrounding the peninsula. Find out more about this area hereAustralia Palm Beach

15. Lamington National Park // QLD

Lamington National Park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, which is the most extensive subtropical rainforest in the world. The area offers over 500 waterfalls, treetop walks, amazing birdlife (for example the exotic bower bird!) and more than 160 km of walking trails. Click here for more information!

16. 75 Mile Beach, Fraser Island // QLD

Seventy-Five Mile Beach is a beautiful coastline, official highway and an airstrip all-in-one! You can cruise along the beach by 4WD car or bus, or you can hop on a tiny airplane and appreciate its size from high above! 17. Sydney Opera House // NSW

It’s hard to choose the best view in a city as glorious as Sydney. But the panoramic view of Sydney’s Harbour area from the iconic Harbour Bridge is a pretty good option :) From here you can see the majestic Opera House, Circular Quay, CBD, the Botanical Gardens, the Rocks and much much more! 18. Cape Hauy Trail // TAS

This spectacular 8km return track is located on the Tasman Peninsula, which features some of Australia’s highest dolerite sea cliffs. Parts of the trail border very close to the cliffs edge, providing thrilling views over the magnificent coastal scenery. You’ll also be able to spot some impressive detached sea stacks, such as the Candlestick and the Totem Pole.

19. Cape Le Grand National Park // WA

Imagine pristine beaches, a crystal blue ocean, rolling headlands, rugged coastal peaks and kangaroos hopping along the shorelineParadise, is that you?? This amazing National Park has been voted one of Australia’s best and rightfully so! The beauty of this area will have you hooked in a second :)

20. Twelve Apostles // VIC

No list of Aussie highlights is complete without this one! This set of limestone rock formations has become one of Australia’s most popular natural icons, but that shouldn’t hold you back because it is still a fantastic place to visit. Sunrise and sunset are sensational, but tourists’ jaws usually drop anytime of day :-)dsc_0767a

21. Karijini National Park // WA

Located hundreds if not thousands of kilometers from any major city in Australia, this astonishing park offers great hikes around spectacular canyons and beautiful crystal-clear swimming holes to soak and refresh after a strenuous hike!

22. Cape Range National Park // WA

This great national park is situated right next to the Ningaloo Reef. The park is excellent for those seeking a thrilling 4WD adventure, and the views from the Charles Knife Range are simply incredible! Click here for more information about this area.

23. The Grampians National Park // VIC

The sandstone rock formations in this awesome National Park provide the perfect setting for a great hike or, for the more adventurous, rock climbing session. Either way, the view over Halls Gap, the gateway to the Grampians, from the Boroka Lookout is veeeerrrry rewarding!

24. Whitehaven Beach // QLD

Often rated “the best beach in Australia” and when you’re standing there it’s easy to understand. Seven kilometers of pure white sandy beach, and some of the clearest turquoise water in the world! Stunning! Want to know more? Click here!

25. Lake Argyle // WA

Known as the largest freshwater lake in Australia, this artificial lake was formed in the 70’s following the construction of the Ord River Dam. Today, it is home to tens of thousands of freshwater crocodiles!
